August was raised and educated in Utica. He was a self-employed auto mechanic in the Utica area. In the early 50's August served in the Korean War and achieved a rank of Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army. He also belonged to the New York Mills Sportsman's Club. Mr. Price was a former member of Sacred Heart Church. August and Madeline were married three days before the big stock market crash in 1929. August's wife Madeline and his father's second wife, Mary Kelliher were sisters.
