Bernadine C. Schmidt, age 45, of rural Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, died at her home on Friday, May 23, 2003. Bernadine was born May 15,1958 to William and Elaine (Sullivan) Terfehr at Parkers Prairie and she was raised and grew up on the family farm near Urbank. She graduated from Parkers Prairie High School in 1976.
On September 29, 1979 she was united in marriage to Raymond A. Schmidt at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Urbank. Junior and Bernadine farmed on Junior's farm to the present time. Bernadine was employed by R&K's Cafe and the Little Dipper, both in Parkers Prairie, and most recently by Douglas County Hospital as a dietary aide. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was active in the Christian Mothers. She has been a CCD teacher and sang in the church choir. Bernadine enjoyed being with her family. Bernadine is survived by her mother: Elaine Terfehr of Parkers Prairie; three sons: Bryan, Andy and Bobby all of Parkers Prairie; four sisters: Mary Ann Nunes of St. Cloud; Lorraine Haus Mann of Madison, Tennessee; LaVonne Braunschweig and husband Chuck of Menahga; and Rosalie Speed and husband Tim of Alexandria; two brothers: Thomas Terfehr and wife Lisa of Stanford, Connecticut; Jerry Terfehr and wife Teresa of Parkers Prairie; and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband: Raymond "Junior" Schmidt who died on December 8, 1999; and her father William Terfehr who died on June 8, 2002. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, May 28, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Jeff Ethen officiating. Organist was Ruth Thoennes and a duet was sung by Ruth and Ed Thoennes. Casketbearers were Jerry Schmidt, Gary Schmidt, Rick Schmidt, Dustin Speed, Ben Terfehr, Craig Braunschweig and Chad Braunschweig. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery
