For his first Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 he went as a 21-year-old player. In the individual florecist competition, he took the 4th place as a rookie. In the team tournament (together with Egon Franke , Ryszard Kunze , Ryszard Parulski and Janusz Różycki ) he took the place 5-8. A year later, at the World Championships in Turin, he won a bronze medal in the team, and in 1962 in Buenos Aires he became a two-time runner-up in the world (individually and team-wise).

At the next games in Tokyo in 1964, he won the team (team consisting of: Woyda, Franke, Parulski, Różycki, Zbigniew Skrudlik ) his first Olympic medal for taking second place, after the defeat in the final with the team of florecists of the USSR. The Olympic Games in Mexico 1968 is another medal, again in the team (Woyda, Franke, Parulski, Skrudlik, Adam Lisewski ), this time brown.

For the fourth of his Olympic Games Munich ( 1972 ) he went with the intention of ending his career. In the individual tournament, he achieved the greatest success in his career, winning a gold medal and winning, among others with Russian Vladimir Denisov and the famous Hungarian Jenoe Kamuti . He won the second gold medal in a team tournament in which the team consisting of Marek Dąbrowski , Arkadiusz Godel , Jerzy KaczmarekLech Koziejowski and WitoldWoyda defeated the USSR team in the final. In this way Woyda became the first Polish athlete who won two gold medals during one Olympic Games.

During his sports career Woyda collected medals of the world championships, winning them a total of 10 (5 silver and 5 bronze), 25 times won in major international foil tournaments. In 1972, in the prestigious Plebiscite of the Sport Review, he was elected the best athlete of the year in Poland. He was a three-time individual Polish champion in the floret (1964, 1965, 1972).

After finishing his career, he went to the USA , where he he worked for the Italian company IMA North America, Inc. Married three times, he had two children from his second marriage.
