For Rt. Rev. Barna Funeral rites for the Rt.Rev. Archimandrite Ignatius (Elias) Barna, 84, pastor emeritus of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, who died Tuesday afternoon in the Community General Hospital, where he was a patient for four days, will begin on Friday evening. Bishop of Brooklyn, and Bishop Alexis of Philadelphia will officiate at a on Friday at 7 in St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church. A Divine Liturgy will be sung cn Saturday at 10 in St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church. Burial will be made in St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Reading. The Gallman Funeral Home has charge. Father Barna, who resided at 244 S. St., retired in 1966 after 34 years as pastor of St. Nicholas Church. Graduated from Seminary, in 1916, he was ordained the same year in St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral, New York City. Father Barna organized St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Cohoes, St. mary's Holy Assumption Church, Binghamton, and St. mary's Church, Detroit, Mich. He served as pastor of St. mary's Church, 111.; All Saints Church, Wolf Run, Ohio; St. michael's Church, Berlin. Somerset County, and St. mary's Church, Akron, Ohio. Born in he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Barna. .He was a member of the Russian Brotherhood, Isaac Hiester Lodge 660, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Reading, and Rajah Temple, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. Father Barna was preceded in death on July 3, 1952, by hiswife. Mary (Pawelczak) Bama. Surviving are four daughters; Mary, wife of John R. Simon, and Mrs Irene Diefenderfer, both of Reading; Anna, wife of Lt. Col. Stephen Lesko, USMC (Ret.). Palm Springs, Calif., and Stefania, John A. Lesko, Two sons, the Rev. Michael E. Barna, pastor of St. michael's Russian Orthodox Church, Philadelphia, and John, at home; 12 grandchildren and five A sister, Anna, widow of Andrew Pawelczak, IIL, and a brother, John, Waterbury! Conn.
