Born in1812 Kershaw District, South Carolina. In 1814 hewasmoved with his family to Hancock Co. Georgia to acottonplantation on the banks of the Chattahootchie River wherehegrew up and left for Tex as with his brothers William and JohnB.Came to Texas about Dec1836 was employed by the Allenbrothersto lay out the new town of Houston by surveying andstaking theblocks lines. Then became a builde r of the rapidlygrowing town.Received in payment for services on June 7, 1837title to 320acres of land in the new town.Born Jan. 7,1812 in Camden,Kershaw District, South Carolina.In1814 he was moved with his family to Hancock Co. Georgia to acotton plantation on the banks of the Chattahootchie River wherehe grew u p and left for San Augustine Co.,Texas with hisbrothers William and John B. They came to Texas about Dec1836 tothei rsister Sarah Annie Blanton-Tidwell‘s home to visit.
