Tharp Oct. 10, 1840 Nov. 6, 1926 "Mother is gone but not forgotten, Asleep in Jesus"Name from BP 2000 #162 Lewis County Herald OBITUARY On the evening of November 6th, 1926, the Death Angel come into our home and called the soul of Mrs. Nancy Tharp to its reward in Heaven. She had been spared to the ripe age of 86 years. She professed faith in early life and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and lived a faithful member, true to Christ unitl the end. She had been an invalid for years and could not attend church but often expressed a desire to be able to again attend church. She was attentive to the reading of the Bible and Church Papers, and prayed often, and rejoiced and said that she loved her Lord. She prayed often that all sinners would repent and come to the Lord and ask mercy and be prepared to enter that rest that awaits the faithful. She is survived by eight children three boys and five girls and many ma grand children, and well as several great grand children, and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Our loss is Heavens gain. Funeral services were conducted by Byron Webb and her body was laid to rest by the side of her husband who preceeded her by about 20 years, in the family cemetery on Sweet Water. Mother has gone, but not forgotten--She is asleep in the arms of Jesus. How sad the hours have been since mother went away, it is one experience that we all must face this side of eternity. And when I enter the room where mother lay, my eyes turn and see the place where dear mother used to lay, and there see the missing bed, and the vacant chair where she used to sit and talk of her tender care; then my heart is filled with grief, my eyes with tears overflowing, to know that my mother is gone from me, and can on longer cheer me. As I look on that lonesome hill just in my front door and think where my dear mother lies, that she can't (ed Lord to word's, yawlaacmf cm co any more0--then I pray, blessed Lord, to Thy word I can refer She can't come to me--but I can go the her.
