Harder and Nancy Ellen (Sharp) Harder, married James 'Elmer' Trimble 03 Aug 1910 near Many Springs, Oregon Co.MO. They had one son, Carlton Waymon Trimble. Both are buried in the Thayer Cemetery, Thayer, Oregon Co, MO. Their marriage of more than 70 years is a story within itself. They were married near Many Springs, Oregon Co, MO by the Justice of the Peace, W. I. Cotham. It was raining hard at the time and, instead of going inside, the Justice of the Peace came out to their buggy and performed the marriage ceremony in the rain. Witnesses were Nora's sister, Laura Harder Lance and Laura's husband, Fleet Lance, who were in their own buggy and had pulled up along side of Elmer and Nora's buggy. Both Elmer and Nora were members of the First Baptist Church of Thayer and together they served there over 50 years. Elmer and Nora were very generous in sharing with their families as well as others, and in their later years, were very proud to the the Friday night hosts of the annual Trimble family reunion in Thayer. One of the more colorful memories of the family members was that of their gardens. Seems as though Elmer had his own garden and Nora had her own garden. The grandchildren got quite a delight in sharing this story.
