Obituary Published in the Lewis County Herald Obituary - Lewis County Herald, Hohenwald, TN - 25 January 1922 Elder N. J. Hinson Enters Final Rest Prominent Minister, Primitive Baptist Church Buried at Kimmins Tuesday. Elder Newton J. Hinson, well known minister of the Primitive Baptist Church, died at the family home at Kimmins Monday at noon after several days serious illness following a relapse from the flu. Mr. Hinson was 84 years of age and had been active in the ministry for many years. He has preached in many sections of the south and stood high with his denomination. For several years he was Moderator for the Buffalo River Association of Primitive Baptist and as such official he had a wide influence over the churches of the association. He was married four times and besides his present wife is survived by six sons and three daughters, the sons are R. S., W. R., Robert, J. H. and Jones Hinson, all of Perry county, and Harvell Hinson of this county. The daughters are Mrs. W. M. Hinson, and Mrs. Perry Hinson, Perry County and Mrs. Albert Dunn, West Tennessee. He is also survived a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as two brothers and two sisters, the brothers are Mr. Harve Hinson, Cane Creek, who is now 90 years old, Robert Hinson of Butterfield, MO. The sisters are Mrs. Amos Skelton, Wayne County, and Mrs. J. A. Edwards, Mineral Springs, Ark. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. by Elders J. H. Pickard, Hohenwald, J. A. Pope, Dickson, and Elder Davis, of Kentucky, at the home of and the remains were laid to rest in the new cemetery near the home of G. W. O'Guinn at Kimmins. Obituary Published in the Nashville Tennessean February 22, 1928 NASHVILLE TENNESSEAN (SPECIAL TO THE TENNESSEAN) Hohenwald, Tennessee., Feb 21 - Elder Newton Henson, 84, minister of the Primitive Baptist church, and one of the oldest citizens of this county, died at his home at Kimmins, six miles north of Hohenwald, Monday, after several days serious illness. Elder Henson was widely known as a preacher, having preached in many sections of the South, including Texas, Arkansas, Alabama, and other southern state. He was moderator of the Buffalo river association of Primitive Baptist for several years. Besides his wife he is survived by six sons and three daughters. The sons are R.S., W.R., ROBERT, J.H., AND JONES HINSON, all of Perry County, and Harvel Hinson, Kimmins. The daughters. Mrs. W.m. Horner and Mrs Perry Hinson, Perry County, and Mrs. Albert Dunn, West Tennessee. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters, the brothers are Harvey Hinson, Perry County and Roberty Hinson, Butterfield, Ms. Funeral services will be conducted at the home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday and burial will be in the O'Guinn cemetery at Kimmins.
