Posted By: Shirley DuPont Date Posted: Jul 15, 2013 Description: Hilliard Black Dabbs January 26, 1916 - July 14, 2013 Hilliard Black Dabbs, 97, of Clarksville, TN, died on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Fieldstone Place. He was born on January 26, 1916 in Wayne County, TN to the late Henry Clay Dabbs and Mary E. Marshall Dabbs. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Dabbs and granddaughter, Hilary Driver Bock. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 12 p.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Dr. Roger Freeman and Dr. John David Laida officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday, July 18, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Mr. Dabbs was the last of eleven children. He retired from Dabbs Realty Group in 2012. He was a 50+ year member of Masonic Lodge 89, Deacon Emeritus of First Baptist Church, and past member of the Downtown Civitan Club. Mr. Dabbs served with the 2nd Marine Division on Saipan, Tinian, Okinawa, and Nagasaki. He was a steel consultant in France, Australia, Turkey, and Wales. The family would like to thank the staff of Fieldstone Place and Asera Care Hospice. He is survived by his son, David (Chloe) Dabbs of Clarksville, TN; daughter, Doris-Jean (Frazer) Driver of Clarksville, TN; seven grandchildren, Lisa Wise, Luanne Driver, Hilary Bock, Tommy Dabbs, Dinah-Rhea Gregg, Roni Boyce, and Blake Hardwick; and twelve great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Tommy Dabbs, Jason Wise, Frank Gregg, James Bock, Scott Wise, and Jim Walk. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Clarksville, 435 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37040.
