Lucille lived in Phoenix Arizona since the early 1950's and passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital after an unsuspecting stroke. Lucille was born March 18, 1926 in Hohenwald Tennessee. Lucille has been a loving and excellent Mother to her surviving children for sixty-four years. We all know she's overjoyed to see and love Johnny and Stella whom have been awaiting her arrival. Almost sixty-six years ago, Lucille and Elmer Compton were married on May 12, 1946 in Avondale Arizona. Lucille was not college educated but she had an extensive education in the King James Bible and was recognized and known by many for her dedication to family, friends and God. She has been a licensed UPC minister for fifty plus years. Lucille started Truth Tabernacle in Avondale Arizona in 1953 in an old Adobe building. They quickly out grew that building and actively worked to build another. That first church is fondly referred to as the old Avondale church at 6th and Belmont. This church is where all of her children were married and many fond memories were made. Lucille and her family actively worked in the building program and construction of the beautiful new Truth Tabernacle for many years. Lucille worked as a homemaker most of her life and the family often talked about her job during WWII. Lucille worked as a welder during this trying time and did her part to ensure all of our freedom and our nation's security. Lucille was satisfied when she was around her family, crocheting, good willing/shopping and most importantly talking about church. If you did not attend church, she would quickly encourage you to do so. Lucille lived in Tennessee, Missouri, California, Illinois and Arizona. Lucille was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her husband Elmer Compton.
