Birth: Apr. 14, 1868 Death: Feb. 12, 1935 Coshocton County Ohio, USA HOWARD LENNON, WELL KNOW AS MELON GROWER, DEAD AT 67 Howard Lennon, 67, nationally know as melon raising expert, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday at his home at Wild Turkey Lock, two miles from Canal Lewisville. Mr. Lennon had been in poor health the last few years and had suffered a paralytic stroke last Friday. Mr. Lennon was born April 14, 1868, the son of John & Lydia Lennon. His father was sheriff in Coshocton county in the '70's. He was the last of three brothers, James died on a farm near Canal Lewisville and William was killed in a railroad accident. Mr. Lennon was at one time superintendent of the county home. Early in life he married Miss Julia Donley, who survives. In his youth, Mr. Lennon became interested in gardening, and many years ago, developed his "tip top" cantaloupe. His melons became well known in many parts of the country and he was largely responsible for the development of melon growing in Coshocton county.
