Edward L. "Ed" Tobeck Jr., 68, of Watseka, died Wednesday (Nov. 30, 2011) at his home. Cremation rites have been accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be from 11 a.m. Monday until the 1 p.m. memorial service at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Pastor Karl Gibbs will officiate.
Inurnment, with military graveside rites provided by the Iroquois County VFW Post 7450 and Watseka American Legion Post 23, will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Woodworth. Memorials may be made to Iroquois Memorial Hospice, the American Cancer Society, or to the donor's choice.
Mr. Tobeck worked as a warehouse foreman in the plumbing wholesale industry for Inland Supply Co. in Kankakee. He was born July 17, 1943, in Watseka, the son of Edward L. Sr. and Bertha Teske Tobeck. He served inthe U.S. Army from 1965-1971. He attended Our Savior Lutheran Church inMilford. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Lisa Tobeck, of Watseka; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Stacy Walwer, and Flora andKeith Martin, all of Watseka, and Teresa Keefer, of Gas City, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Caitlin Walwer, Codey Martin, Tanner Martin, Sierra Tobeck, Zackary Tobeck, Tonya Keefer, Dustin Houser and Mercedes Jacksen; one great-grandson; one brother and three sisters-in-law, Larry and Nancy Tobeck, of Milford, Lorraine Tobeck, of Watseka, and Vineta Tobeck, of Hoopeston; three sisters, Esther Glauser, of Watseka, Lucille Marshall, of Orange, Calif., and Alice Cluver, of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Raymond Tobeck, Roy Tobeck and Arthur Tobeck; and two sisters, Marlene Tobeck and Dorothy Tobeck.
