In 1897, the family moved to Rib Lake, WI, along with his brothers, Henry and family and Christian. The men gained employment there in the lumber business. In 1903, they moved back to Marshall County, KS. In 1914,the family moved to Coffey County, KS, where Ehler's brother Christianmoved to around 1912. They farmed for a livelihood and lived in the Leroy area.
Daughter Mary and her husband William Krueger took Anna into their homewhen she needed care. She was 69 when she passed away. The Krueger's later opened their home to Ehler, and he lived with them until his deathin 1951. He was nearly 91.
