A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 1, at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Bremen, Kansas. Rev. Jack Kirk will officiate.
The pallbearers will be Doug Duis, Brian Duis, Jon Duis, Mike Rippe, David Rippe, Jason Rippe, Sheryl Rippe and Lisa Parker.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Esther was born March 30, 1920 at Bremen, Kansas, to Herman and Elise (Westermann) Dierking. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Herkimer, Kansas, on April 11, 1920, and confirmed there on March 25, 1934.
On September 29, 1940, she married Edwin H. Rippe at Immanuel LutheranChurch, Bremen, Kansas.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Immanuel Ladies Aide Society, Immanuel Mission Guild, was a Sunday School Teacher and served onthe Herkimer Township Election Board. She was also part of a group of ladies that held bible studies each week.
Esther enjoyed quilting, working in her flower garden and puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin; son, Howard;sisters, Paula Wiechmann, Ruth Westermann, Ella Wollenberg and Anna Holle; and brothers, Norman and Edwin.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynette (Wayne) Duis, Odell, Nebraska;son, Jim (Dorothy) Rippe, Malcolm, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Bev Rippe, Lincoln, Nebraska; two sisters, Verda Ham and Verna Linneman, both ofTopeka, Kansas; sister-in-law, Rachel Dierking, Orlando, Florida; andeight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
