PORTLAND, Ore. - Robert Martin Hinkeldey, son of Martin and Evelyn (Glienke) Hinkeldey, was born April 13, 1941, in Alta, Iowa. He attended St. John's Lutheran School at Hanover, and graduated from Alta High School in 1959. He married Alice Noble on August 24, 1963. After service inthe National Guard, he attended Iowa State University and graduated in1964 with a degree in Agriculture Business. He had sales jobs for several years after graduating from ISU and then returned to the family farmin 1970. They were blessed with two children, Francine Louise and SaraEvlyn.
Bob incorporated jocularity into all aspects of his life. He enjoyed the outdoors and long hikes through the hills. He loved his family and friends and was always the life of the party.
He was a committed husband, the most devoted father, and he worshiped his granddaughters.
He was a lifelong ISU Alumni Member and has served on many boards and committees.
Hink was generous and caring, and he always found the good in others. He was a world traveler and always took the back roads.
Bob passed away on January 1, 2012, at 12:19 a.m. in Portland, Ore.
He is survived by his wife Alice (Noble) Hinkeldey; daughters Francine(Hinkeldey) Moyer and Sara Hinkeldey LaRoche; sons-in-law Adam Moyer and John LaRoche; granddaughters Evelyn Moyer and Adison Moyer; his sister and brother-in-law Karen and Les Buchholz and sister-in-law Janet Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents Martin and Evelyn Hinkeldey, his sister Ardis (Hinkeldey) Willink and her husband Bob, and brother-in-law James Y. Adams.
Services were held Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hot Springs.
