Carl Meyer was born 31 January 1864, in Cook County, Illinois, the sonof Carsten Heinrich Friedrich "Henry" Meyer and Anna Dorothea (Ritz) Meyer, both German immigrants.

Birth records from St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tinley Park, Cook County, Illinois, gives his full name as "Friedrich Heinrich Carl Meyer", birth date January 31, 1864, son of Heinrich Meyer and Dorothea Pritz (should be Ritz.)

Either Nov 22, 1886 or Dec 22, 1886 (have 2 records which show both dates), Carl wed Anna Elizabeth Ehlers in Caledonia Twp, O'Brien County, Iowa. They were blessed with 10 children:

The last twenty-four years of his life were spent in Texas, and he wasresiding in Kress, Swisher County, Texas, at the time of his death, dueto cardiac failure, for which he had been treated for 10 years.

CARL MEYER, FORMER RESIDENT, DIES IN TEXAS

Word was received here the past week by Dick Meyer of the death of hisfather, Carl Meyer, 74, at Plainview, Texax.

Mr. Meyer was a former resident of this community and lived 1 1/4 milessouthwest of Paullina, on what is now known as the Ben Hellmann farm.He moved from this community in 1901, locating first in Oklahoma. Laterhe moved his family to Plainview, Texas, where he as since resided.

His wife preceded him in death about eight years ago. He is survived byten children. They are Dick Meyer of Paullina, (Nora) Mrs. Otto Deffner of Blackwell, Okla., John Meyer of Plainview, Texas, (Emma) Mrs. Harold Trenary, Pama, Texas, Henry Meyer at home, (Lizzie) Mrs. Geo. Houserof Kress, Texas; Arnold Meyer of Southern Texas, Albert Meyer of Plainview; Robert Meyer of Olton, Texas and Mrs. Irene Hall of Tulia, Texas.

Burial was made at Plainview in the family lot.

Many here will remember Mr. Meyer.
