Mrs. Emil Gebert, a resident of this community during almost her entire78 years, died Sept. 2 and was buried in St. John's Lutheran Cemeteryat Germantown following funeral service held at Zion Lutheran Church inPaullina Saturday afternoon, Sept.5, at 2:00. The Rev. Mr. Martin Peters conducted the services. a fall at home, which resulted in a broken hip, no doubt brought on her rather sudden death. She had fallen Tuesday, Aug. 25 while in her garden.
Pallbearers were Alber Meyer, John Beerman, Albert Gaudian, Harold Braasch, Edw. Dobbertin, and Fred Schroeder of Latimer. Mrs. Harold Braasch, Mrs. John Beerman, and Mrs. Walter Niebuhr were in charge of the flowers.
Mrs. Bertha Gebert, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Lemke was bornin Chicago, Nov.21,1874. In early childhood, she came to Germantown community together with her parents.
On Oct.6,1895 she was married to Emil Gebert. To them were born three sons and one daughter. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Gebert made their home on a farm six miles west of Paullina until their retirement in1925 when they moved to town. Her husband proceeded her in death on June 20, 1949.
Mrs. Gebert died at the hospital in LeMars at the age of 78 years, 9 months, and 12 days.
She is survived by her daughter Tillie ( Mrs. Henry Fiddelke) and her son Arthur; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; her brothers Ed andAugust Lemke of Paullina; her sisters, Mathilda (Mrs. Peter Straub) andAnna of Paullina, Martha ( Mrs. Otto Strampe) of Marcus and Clara (Mrs. Carl Krom) of Morningside and many friends. Two sons Fred and Edwin,5 sisters and Brothers preceded her in death.
Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Dau, Sutherland; Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Paulsen, Archer; Mr. and Mrs. O.J. Strampe, Marcus; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schroeder, Latimer; Mrs. Louise L.Graf, Worthington, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Krom and Dorothy, Mr. andMrs. M. J. Forsling and children. Miss Laverne Lemke, Sioux City; Mrs.and Mrs. Guy M. Borst, Worthington, Minn.; and Mr. and Mrs. George Dau,Sutherland. KW
