NOTE: In the 1901 census she was living with her family at Dunboyne,Prestbury, Cheltenham, Glos, aged 69 and born in China and aBritish Subject. On her death certificate she was a widow of Thomas de CourcyHamiltonlate Major general of the 64th regiment. The informantwas Florence Hamilton, her daughter, who was present at thedeath at Dunboyne, Prestbury._________________________________________________________In the overseas registers at the family record centre, Londonthere are records for the births of Claude, Florence, Gilbert,John and Douglas W, all Hamiltonborn in Corfu in the IonianIslands. Curiously there is no mention ofCharlotte Annie;perhaps there was no such facility when she, the eldest, wasborn. Nor do I know what happened to all those boys. Were theyMary and Thomas'? Or did they all die young?__________________________________________________________In the 1871 census she was lving at 48 Devonshire St, PortlandPlace, marlebone, London with three daus, four sonsand twoservants. Presumably Thomas was abroad with the army. She was39, a Colonel's Wife, born in Chine and using the name of LouisaHamilton, not Mary Ann Louisa._____________________________________________________Additionally to the six children I have recorded there was thena son Claude, aged 9 so born in c. 1862 in Corfu. Presumably hedied young?
