He enlarged his knowledge of chemistry, then mastered processes for making muriatic, nitric and sulphuric acids, aqua ammoilia, sulphate of copper and extract of indigo, and learned the secret of making and usingvarious mordants.
Founder, in 1859, of the Cochrane Chemical Works in Everett, Massachusetts.
