BIRTH-DEATH:Obit. Fort Wayne Journal Gazette May 27,1921 FIND BODY OF LOCAL MAN IN IOWA WOODS; WAS MOURNED AS DEAD FOR MANY YEARS DURING WHICH HE HAD NOT WRITTEN: Mourned as dead for many years, duringwhich time he had not written or cummunicated with his family in this city, it remained to the police department here Thrusday to notify the widow of Christian Ulmer residing at 1616 Oakland avenue that his body had just been found a few days ago in the timber forests near Amana, Iowa and buried in a little cemtery in that city. From letters, etc., taken from the properties ot the dead man, Amana officials learned that he had at one time resided in Fort Wayne and a telegram was accordingly sent here for further identification. Ulmer according to word from Iowa, had been working in the lumber camps near that city for many years. The letter received here stated that the remains were found in a dense section of the forest and that no cause for death could be discovered although the dead man was about 75 years of age and might have died from natural causes.

The dead man was rememberd by Lieutenant of Police Dan Kintz and Sergeant Gusta Motz, who are acquainted with Mrs. Ulmer and her children, all living in this city.

When Christian Wilhelm's son married Martha Wysong he put on his application for marriage, that his father wa a stone cutter and lived in Fort Wayne, Ind. (1918}

Jerry & Karmen Hatchett viewed the grave in Amana, Iowa in 1998, there was a simple white stone like many others of the period. Checking of theAmana Society Records revealed no mention of Christian Ulmer as a member. Apparently he simply worked for the Society.
