Folgender Beitrag erschien am 04.01.2017in der Scranton Times: Ruth Schield Weniger, beloved aunt, teacher and friend, died on Dec. 30, 2016, at Bethany Village, where she had been residing. She was preceded in death by her husband, attorney Robert T. Weniger; and her parents, William and Harriett Kehr Schield. She was born in Taylor, Pennsylvania, on Oct. 4, 1919. She received her teaching degree from Bloomsburg University and her master's degree from Temple University. Ruth taught in the Wayne Highlands School District at the Lincoln and Stourbridge schools. She was a strict but loving teacher, as her former students can attest! Ruth retired from teaching in 1981.Ruth Schield and attorney Robert T. (Bob) Weniger were married on July 13, 1973, in Pittsburgh. Although Bob died on May 22, 1975, the couple made the most out of the time they had by traveling and enjoying each other's company. By marrying into the Weniger clan, she gained a new family, both here in Honesdale and across the country. She loved traveling, playing bridge, going out to eat and attending all the holidays in Pittsburgh with her ever-growing family. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Honesdale, serving on many committees. Her belief in God was unshakable. She will be greatly missed by all of her nieces and nephews and particularly by Charlie and Patty Weniger of Honesdale, who were always available to help her, spend time with her, love her and finally, be with her at her death. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 5, at the First Presbyterian Church of Honesdale at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Honesdale. The family will receive friends in the church, from 10 until service time. Scranton Times, Jan. 4, 2017
