Er kam durch die Vertreibung nach Münchberg (Lkr. Bayreuth), wo er sein Abitur ablegte. Er studierte Agrarwissenschaftan der Hochschule für Landwirtschaft in Weihenstephan. Seine berufliche Laufbahn rührte ihn über Südtirol, Miesbach,Rothenburg o.d.Tauber und Naila nach Münchberg, wo er bis zu seiner Pensionierung 1993 am Landwirtschaftsamt tätig war.
