Von Werdum nennt 1505 einen Hilmar v. Borssum. 1471 ließen Emko und Hilmer eine Glocke in Groß-Borssum gießen. Er erbte die Middelsteburg von seinem Onkel Mense Ommen.
Sein Siegel zeigt als Wappen den heiligen Georg. Helmzier: ein Adlerkopf.
