In the early 1860's August Lohman and Herman Lohman (brothers) and Clara Holtfoerster and Mary Holtfoerster came to the United States from Hanover, Germany on the same ship. The trip lasted eleven weeks. August Lohman and Clara Holtfoerster were married June 23, 1863. Mary Holtfoerster married Martin Brockman, according to Minnie Pollpeter, 1971; however, the actual emigration has an arrival date of November 30, 1855 aboard the ship Tuisko, at New Orleans, Louisianna. The Lohman brothers did become naturalized citizens together in 1863.
