He was born May 24,1939, in Calhoun County, W.Va. to John J. and Stella Cottrell Cottrell. He was married Aug. 9, 1964, in Monticello to Bonnie Gerard, who survives. He was a portable sawmill operator. Surviving are his mother, Stella Cottrell, Zanesville, Ohio; three sons, Rodney, Randy and Scott, all at home; one daughter, Sheila, at home; three brothers, Roy, Monticello, Arlen, Grovertown, and Orin, Grantsville, W.Va.; five sisters, Alma Frazier, Knox, Gelia Cottrell and Letha Dunlap, both of Zanesville, Ed'Hi Price, Mount Perry, Ohio, and Viola Helmic, Minora, W.Va.; and one grandson. Six brothers and sisters preceded in death. The Rev. Howard Western will officiate at the service. Burial will be in Bell Center Cemetery, west of Royal Center.
