Seine Eltern waren Johann Heinrich Knip und Katharina, eine geborene Kraheck: „Joes Petrus Knip ex Mittelscheid Jois Henrici et Katharinae filius levantes Joes Petrus Knip ex Bullesbach et Petrusex Bülgenauel assistente Anna Barbara Birth.“ [LAV BA 2576, digital S.145]
Der hier eingepflegte Johann Peter Knip heiratete am 26. November 1765 die Witwe Agnes Birther (geb. Büllesfeld?): “26ta 9bris [1765] copulatus Peter Knip ex Mittelscheid cum vidua Agnete Birthers ex Mittelscheid testibus Michaele Knip ex Bullesfeld et Ludovico Muller ex platea.” [LAV BA 2577, digital S.220] Der Trauzeuge Ludovicus Müller war im Jahr darauf auch Pate bei der Taufe der Anna Sybilla Knip.
Am 19. Dezember 1766 wird Tochter Anna Sybilla getauft:„19na [decembris 1766] Anna Sybilla, Petri Knip et Agnetis Bullesfeld ex Mittelscheid filia leg[itima]; levarunt Anna Sybilla Bullesfeld ex Scheidereich et Ludovicus Muller ex platea.“
