Sein "cognomen" war der "weiße Jost", wohl mit Bezug auf seine Haarfarbe.

Am 8. Mai 1683 heiratete er Elisabeth Wagener.

Just (Jost) Schneider "dictus Weißjost" starb am 30. März 1728 in Zell und wurde tags darauf dort begraben. Seine Frau Elisabeth hat ihn laut Sterberegister überlebt. Der "textus electus" war dem 2. Kapitel des Lukas-Evangeliums entnommen (Vers29f): "Herr, nun lässest du deinen Diener im Frieden fahren, wie du gesagt hast; enn meine Augen haben deinen Heiland gesehen." Das lässt sich schließen, dass der "Weißjost" nach damaligen Maßstäben ein gottesfürchtiges Leben geführt hat, ähnlich wie der Greis Simeon, von dem bei Lukas die Rede ist.
