John J. HECKMAN

John J. Heckman Jr., 84, of Exeter Township, died on October 20, 2014 at Country Meadows. He is survived by his wife Doris Heckman. He was predeceased by his first wife Dawn (Lewars) Heckman, who was the mother of his children Maryann Tran, of York, PA; Annmarie Ragukonis, of Florida; Margo Raube of West Chester, PA; and Jack Heckman, of Reading. He also was predeceased by his sister Virginia Keefer. John was a dedicated math teacher at Reading High School for over 30 years retiring in 1994. He continued teaching as a math substitute for over 10 years at Exeter High School. He was graduated from Central Catholic High School and continued his education at Kutztown University where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree, Master’s Degree and Principal Certification. He also served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was an avid, lifelong baseball fan. In addition to his wife and children, John is survived by his sister Anna Heckman of Reading, 3 step daughters, 13 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
