(Coleman Chronicle and Democrat-Voice, Coleman, Texas, July 2011. Used with permission.): "Josephine Fowler Zirkle, age 96, of Coleman, died Sunday, July 3, 2011 at Coleman Health Care Center. Private graveside and memorial services will be held by the family. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman. "Josephine Fowler Zirkle was born on September 17, 1914, in Wichita Falls, Texas, the daughter of W.F. Fowler and Ethel Elouise Wellborn Fowler. She grew up in the New Central/Glen Cove area of Coleman County where she attended school. She worked as a nurse and dental assistant for many years in Coleman. She married Thomas Nalley who preceded her in death. In the 1960's, Josephine moved to San Marcos, working as a dental assistant at the Gary Job Corp. Center. She then married Earl Zirkle in San Marcos, and they moved to Abilene and later to Smithville. Earl preceded her in death in 1976. Josephine returned to Coleman in 1980 where she resided until her death. She was a member of the Elm Street Church of Christ. "She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Nalley Zirkle of San Angelo; two grandchildren, Dana Zirkle of Austin and Janna Z. Hudson and husband Hank of Midland; great-grandchildren Harrison Hudson and wife Katie, Thomas Hudson and Patrick Hudson. "The family would appreciate any memorials be sent to the "Hope House", a home for battered and abused girls, 317 Koberlin Street, San Angelo, Texas 76903."
