Minier News, Fri, Jul 5, 1912
After weary months of suffering from cancer, Mrs. Dan King found
rest at noon last Friday, at her home southwest of Minier. On account of
the hopeless-ness of her illness, her death was not unexpected, yet the
news was received with much sadness by the many friends of thisesteemed
lady.
Elizabeth Bentley was born in Madison county, Kentucky, Nov.12,
1846.
In young womanhood she was married to James Davis, three children being
born to them: Mrs. Mary Lamme, of Farber, Mo.; Will Davis, of Los Angeles,
Cal.; and Mrs. Mattie Tanner, of Miranda, S.D. A few years after their
marriage the family came to this vicinity and settled on Broadway,
southwest of Minier. In 1881, the husband died, but the deceased, being a
capable and industrious woman, maintained herself and her children with
success. In 1890 she wasmarried to Daniel W. King, who, with her three
children survive her.
ThroughMrs. King's long residence among us, her many excellent
qualities were well known throughout the community. She certainly had the
respect and esteem of everybody and is much regretted by her friends.
The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock,
in charge of R.B. Doan, pastor of the Armington church. The burial was at
the Armington cemetery.
