Juneau County's Oldest Citizen Dies atAge 101

Juneau county's oldest resident died Monday in Mauston. Mrs. Sarah
Galvin succumbed after an illness of several weeks at the home of her
daughter, Mrs. Frances Leist. Mrs. Galvin would have been 101 years old
on December 1.
Born in Milvaukee in 1853, Mrs. Galvincame to Mauston during early
childhood and resided on what is now known as the Eltag farm north of the
city. Except for 17 years in Ellendale, South(North) Dakota, during her
early married life, she has lived in this area. Her husband died in 1922.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Bandfieldand Mrs.
Frances Leist, both of Mauston, and Mrs. Blanche Carver of Rockford, Ill.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon in the Crandall &
Sonsfuneral home, with the Rev. C. J. Swanson officiating. Interment
was in theMauston cemetery.
