I have learned that the Department of Commerce (1942) shows the 1900 census as showing the family name of Schaum and that my Grandfather's name is listed as Lorenez, not Lawrence. Maybe this is why I could not get a birth certificate on him. Or it could be that the Department. Of Commerce told him that he could use this as a proof of birth. They have it down as June, 1892. There was always a problem with his birth date, he used to say that he had 2 birthdays, because somewhere else it shows up as Sept. Pop-Pop was my dearest friend, my father, my Grandfather. He was the one who spent time with me when everybody else was too busy. Probate Records: 924-71St. Brooklyn, Kings, New York 5377-68 6-12-68 P$5. (I haven't a clue, this is being checked into as of Oct. 2, 2000) Got them On the 1920 census his work code was 362. Ernst & Johanna were in the house also, so it would appear that after Marie died? they moved in? 1920 ED 509, sheet 10 924 71st. Is a machinist in a manufacturing company Minnie is 23 and Mom is 2 and 1mo old, Daisy is 3 & 10/12 mo old 1930 Census ED 1155 Sheet 34 B 924 71st. Schaum, Lawrence, Rents 26thou, Radio No MW35, Married at 20 no, yes, NY/Ger/Ger Machinist in Lighting Co. Minnie, wife FW33 Marrried 18 NY/Ger/Ger Daisy 14 Mom, 12 Jesper, Ernst arrived in 1875 Johanna says 1889
