Neil Richard Iman, 83, of East Ridge Loop Road, Sunrise Heights, Romney, WV, formerly of Winchester Road, LaVale, MD, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 at the Winchester MedicalCenter, Winchester, VA.
Born on October 13, 1920 at the Seymour Road farm in Ridgeley, WV, he was a son of the late Joseph Monroe and Ella Grace (Judy) Iman. He lived his early years on a farm on Patterson Creek Road in Burlington, WV with his family. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by a beloved son, Gary Neil Iman; his twin sister, Evelyn Petro; two other sisters, Josie Smith and Madeline Halterman and a brother, Eston Iman. Mr. Iman was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Iman was a retired plant utilities department supervisor at the Celanese Amcelle Plant with 37 years of service. He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Romney, and was also amember of the National Wildlife Federation and Aerie # 2883, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Cresaptown, MD. Mr. Iman was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather and loved traveling with hisfamily, especially in the Blue Ridge Mountains. He enjoyed country music, gardening and particularly enjoyed the local wildlife and his backyard birds.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, Iva Juanita (Walker) Iman; three sons, Richard D. Iman of Baltimore, MD, Donald K. Iman of Romney and Dale E. Iman and his wife Janis of Moline, Illinois. Also surviving is a daughter-in-law, Alice Mae Iman of Woodstock, VA and two grandchildren, Joanna Iman of Woodstock and Matthew Iman of Moline.
Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Saturday, January 31 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services were conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Sunday, February 1 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave Simmons officiating.
Interment was in the Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney, WV.
