Graveside services were held in Woodville Cemetery, Rappahanock County, on Saturday afternoon, October 27, at two o'clock, for Christian G. Schaefer of Sperryville. The Rev. John R. Frizzell, Jr. of the Episcopal Church of Washington, VA officiated.
Mr. Schaefer, 75, died in his home in Sperryville on Thursday morning, October 25, at 8:45, following several months of failing health. He came to this country from Germany in 1893 with his family, and settled in Vermont. Later, he moved to Virginia, where he spent the last 45 years of his life.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Nannie Clark Schaefer, he is survived by a son, Fred W.; two daughters, Mrs. B.M. Varner of Sperryville, and Mrs. Maurice Manuel of Browntown. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Rudoph Strikler of Jericho, Vermont, and Mrs. Max Linder of Underhill, Vermont.
Pallbearers were Dr. J.P. Snead, James W. Fletcher, D.V. Chapman, Claude Beard, Thomas Leake, and G.M. Black.
