After the Cicil War Jonathan moved into Cataloochee permanently(1866). He moved his family there earlier from Spring Creek in MadisonCo. His wife wanted to move back there to Spring Creek, which they did. Some years later his wife died. After that he moved back to Cataloochee and married Mary AnnCaldwell with his 5 children; Susan, Nancy, Stephen, Robert, and Rebecca.Mary Ann had nine children at home; Andrew, Harrison, Marion, Reuben,John, Hiram, George, Mary and Doctor. Now that there were sixteen ofthem, they needed more room. The first smaller log cabin Levi had builtwas still standing and in good condition. They decided it could be moveddown near the newer house. Jonathan's sons and Mary Ann's sons workedtogether. They cut polls, slid them under the small log cabin, withenough length stuck out to hitch several teams of horses. They placedround poles across in front of it, all the way the hill to the otherhouse. They slowly pulled it like a big sled. All fourteen children grew up together, but they were no relation toeach other. Jonathan's daughter, Susan married Marry Ann's son Harrison.
