He has spent most of the past twenty-five years in Ligonier, receiving the advantages of our public school system, afterwards attending Notre Dame University, grauduating in a commerical course in 1886. Shortly after he engaged in business inNew York City, remaining until ill health overtook him, when he mad atrip abroad in the summer of 1888, regainging is health, when he returned to Ligonier and entered the bank. In 1892 he became a member of the Ligonier Carriage company of which he is treasurer. He is also Business Men`s asscoiation of this city and also president of the LigonierCycle works lately incorporated. He is a young hustler, with spirit of push and a determination to win in any undertaking. It is such hustling qualitities that will make the future of our city bright and prosperous. The banking firm Straus Bros. has always been one of the solidinstitutions of the city, and there is none better than the Citizen`sbank of Ligonier. They make a speciality of collections and depositsare absolulety safe, because the institution is not only backed by anaboudance of capital but by large real estate investments as well. Inaddition to their banking and real estate business Straus Bros. are also engaged in manufacturing, as members of the Ligonier Carriage company, one of the solid institutions of the city. They are increasing their business very materially and are now engaged in enlarging their factory in order to better meet the demands of the business. The firm isbacked by an abundance of capital and emloys skilled mechanics in alldepartments. The president and manage has had many years of experience in the manufacture of carriages, so that their equipement is complete in eery department of the work. They manufacture the better grades of carriage and surreys, and the fact that the demand for their vehicles is increasing is evidence of their superiority. Such institutions must of necessity be of material advantage to the growth and prosperityof the city. (Quelle unbekannt, Artikel City Archive Ligonier).
