TOD: Mrs. John (Sophia) Fecker Comfrey Times 1956 Solemn Requiem High Mass was held for Mrs. John Fecker, 70, at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Monday, August 18 at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Peter Berger officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Henry Sterner of the Church of the Japanese Martyrs, Leavenworth and by Rev. Merle W. Monnens of St. Rafael's Catholic Church, Springfield. The deceased had been in failing health for several years. She had been hospitalized at Springfield since April when she suffered a fractured hip. She passed away on Thursday of last week. Mrs. Fecker, nee Sophia Rubey, was born August 12, 1885 in Burnstown township and had lived in Brown County all her life. Shortly before her hospitalization, she had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Hornick. On June 21, 1910 she was united in marriage to John Fecker at Springfield. For some years they farmed in Stately township and later in Burnstown. Besides her husband, she leaves three children: Catherine, Mrs. Sylvester Hornick, Comfrey; Bernice, Mrs. Clifford Wolterstorff, Knapp, Wisconsin; and Walter of Buffalo Lake, Minn; One brother, Ludwig Rubey, Springfield; four sisters, Frances, Ida, Catherine Rubey, Springfield and Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Lang, Comfrey, and seven grandchildren. Interment was in St. Rafaels Catholic cemetery, Springfield. Casketbearers were Gilbert Schmid, J. J. Nachreiner, Sylvester Rubey, Norbert Lang, Leo Reiderer, Leo Nachreiner. After the services the relatives and friends were served dinner at St. Rafael's auditorium by members of the Alter society of which she was a member. A delegation from the Alter Society of Springfield attended the funeral. Those from a distance that attended the final rites included: Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Wolterstorff and family, Knapp, Wis; Mr. Albert Fecker, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Rubey, Cayuga, N. D.; Mrs. Roman Puchner, Madison, Minn; Raymond J. Rubey, Cleveland, Minn.; also friends and relatives from Springfield, Sleepy Eye, New Ulm, and Mountain Lake.
