AND JANE BUTCHER OWED LAND LOT # 11 ON THE PLAT OF THE TOWN OF
WILLIAMSTON, CLAY COUNTY, IN. WAS BOUGHT IN 1859 IN SEPT. AND
SOLD IN THE YEAR OF 1865, 28 DAY OF AUGUST. Were found on the 1860
Clay county, Posey Twp. Brazil census Pg 752, 601-612. David Butcher
& Jane Boone md Sept. 6, 1853 Recorded in The Vigo, IN BK 1, pg 21 THEN
THE FAMILY WAS BELIEVED TO MOVE TO ILL. AS THIS WAS WHERE HIS
LAST CHILD WAS BORN WITH JANE 1ST WIFE. ENTERED IN CIVIL WAR

MAR 1864- CO. E. 124TH REG. DESERTED 31 JAN. 1865.

BURIED IN THE PURCELL CEMETERY BY THE BOYER RIVER.

county since spring of 1870. DAVID IS BURRIED IN THE KNAUSS CEMETERY.
FOUND A LETTER WRITTEN TO HIS WIFE ELIZABETH DATED DEC. 11,1885
FROM CHADRON, NEBR. DAVID SAYS HOW MUCH HE MISSES HIS FAMILY.
ALSO HE WRITES TO GEORGE HIS SON & DAUGHTER NELEY. THIS IS HOW
DAVID SPELLED IT. HE SAID,"HE WAS DETERMINED TO STAND THE STORM
TILL I SEE IF I CAN MAKE ANYTHING HERE". YOU CAN EMAGEN HOW I FEEL
HERE TO DAY. ALL A LONE IN MY LITEL HUT NO ONE TO CHER ME ON NO ONE
TO PITEY ME BUT IAM HOUSED IN ALL A ROUND WITH MOUNTAINS OF SNOW
AND AND STILL IT SNOWS OWN AND WHILE I SET RITING AND THINKING OF
YOU AND THE DEAR ONES MY VERY HART IS ALMOST MADE TO BURST". THIS
IS JUST HOW IT WAS TAKEN FROM THE LETTER. THE SPELLING AND ALL. IN
JUNE OF 1894 WE FIND DAVID AT HIS SISTER SARAH'S HOUSE IN TERRE
HAUTE, IN . WRITING YET ANOTHER LETTER TO HIS WIFE & LITEL ONES.
DAVID SAYS HE SEEMS TO HIM IT IS A DREAM. HE HASN'T SEEN ANY FAMILY
BUT HERS. HE MENTION IN THE LETTER HE WILL TRY & GO SEE THE PLACE
WHERE MY FATHER & MOTHER ARE LAID TO REST.. HE SAYS HE WILL NOT
STAY LONG. THIS PART OF THE COUNTRY HE STILL FELLS BAD ABOUT.
FOUND ANOTHER LETTER FROM EVANSTON WY DATED DEC 2, 1908
ADDRESSED TO GRANDPA FROM HALLIE DAVID BUTCHER. HE TELLS HIS
GRANDFATHER IT HAS BEEN A VERY LONG TIME SINCE HE HAS SEEN OR
HEARD FROM HIM. THAT HE IS NOW MARRIED & HAS A LITTLE BABY GIRL. HE
HASN'T SEEN HIS DEAR PAPA FOR A LONG TIME AND THINKS HE MIGHT BE
IN ST LOUIS. CLARENCE IS MARRIED NOW AND HAS ABABY GIRL CHILD. ALSO ETHEL IS
MARRIED BEFORE 1908, BUT I HAVEN'T SEEN ANY OF THEM. I AM ALL ALONE
JUST ME -AND MY WIFE & BABY. HE SAYS HE WON'T TURN OUT LIKE HIS
PAPA & MAMA. I SOPPOSE SADIE'S BABY IS A BIG GIRL NOW & MYRTLES TO.
TELL THEM HELLO FOR ME AND TELL GRANDMA TO THINK OF HER BIG BOY
THAT CAME TO SEE HER IN KNEE PANTS IS MARRIED. I WILL SEND A
PICTURE WHEN WE GET ONE. HALLIE ALSO ASK HIS GRANDPA IF HE WILL
SEND SOME WALNUTS. HALLIE WILL PAY THE CHARGES.
ANOTHER LETTER FOUND.STATES DAVID GOT A CARD FROM JANE & LITTLE DAVE IS VERY
SICK. YET THE LETTER IS TO DAVIDS WIFE ELIZABETH WHO HE CALLS
LIZEY. THE LETTER IS DATED MAY 11TH 1885 FROM STUART, NEBR. THIS
CAN'T BE HIS WIFE JANE AS SHE ALREADY WAS DEAD IN 1871. THIS COULD
BE DAVID JR. AS HE WAS SICK IN HIS LIFE TIME. SEYMOUR TOOK CARE OF
HIM FOR A WHILE IN HIS HOME BEFORE HE (DAVID WENT TO CLARINDA, IA
to the hospital.)

My Dear family,one and all I rite to let you no that I have not forgoten
you though i have not riten for some time Still my hart is left with you
and your Well fair is a thing my hart Loves to hear i have Seen Som Ruff
times and som good times But thar is no Place Like my Home and family
the reason of my staing so long is i thought i had sold out and was to
wait 20 days for my money But i think i will fail on that Can not tell
Shore But what my luck will be i cannot tell now. But do not think me
untrue to my home George you have ben a good boy you shal not loose any
thing by it. I think We will all see beter days in the nigh future I will be
at home as soon as Posabel, a kiss for all my Dear wife forget me not I
got a card from Jane and little Dave is very sick. Lisey you are my only
Dear Rite soon D. Butcher Kiss the children all for me, Love, love that
has no end. If i Do not sell soon i am going to hold till next spring and i
will have George to come out and then i will come back home now this is
all except my love that has no End D. Butcher You dont say anything to
anyone a bout me selling for they mite make me trouble

Dear wife & Litel ones all I am at my Sisters Sarah In Terrehaute But It
Seems to me as a Dreem. i have not Seen any of the family But heirs i
dont think I shall Be Sadisfide to Stay as Times and things are so
changed Still I Shall Try and goe See the Place whear my father & mother
are Laid to Rest you no What i always told you a bout coming to this
country that I would only feel Bad Son I am not Disapointed unless my
mind gets mour Seteled I will not Stay Long Your Husband. D. Butcher

May have owned a saw mill in Little Sioux township Section 25, 80
acres.

David Butcher was on the ww I draft Registered in Harrison county 8 Aug 1881

David Butcher entered in to Civil War March 7 1864, Deserted Jan 31 1865. He wasn't much with his family because of his deseration from the war. If he was caught he would have been shot or hung. Not sure of the year but he was pardon by the goverment.

David also listed as 1905 Resident in Jefferson township, with wife Elizabeth son David & Daughter Sarah.

I found David living with Jeremiah & Family in 1910. He was 80 years old then. Listed all the Children Jennie, Arlow, Ruby, Ruth & Grace. Little Souix Township Harrison , IA
