Adin I. Johnson, one of the old settlers and highly respected citizens of this part of the country, died at the home of his brother near Lucerne last Sunday, April 16, 1911, at 2 o’clock p.m. He had suffered for a long time from an ailment which final developed into cancer of the stomach and caused death. The funeral was held Tuesday from the M. E. church in this city and was under the auspices of the local Odd Fellows, of whose lodge he was a charter member. Deceased was born near Cleveland, Ohio, and was 58 years, 5 months and 7 days old at the time of his death. He came to this part of the country many years ago, and in 1893 settled near the present site of Lucerne, where he afterward maintained his residence. He was a man of good habits, industrious and careful in business, quiet and unobtrusive, and commanding the friendship and esteem of all with whom he came in contact. He was of the class of citizens whose taking off is a loss to the communities in which they lived. He was married five times, three of his wives being buried in the cemetery here, as is also his son, Vernon C. Johnson, who died several years ago. He leaves a mother at the advanced age of 85 years who lives in Colorado. Two sons and a daughter, Herman L Johnson, Earl Johnson and Mrs. J.C. Slane, live near this city, and another son lives in one of the southern states. The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of all in the great loss that has befallen them.
