elkedewitt46 Hello JMincone, thanks for your message.
You are right: The Dittmer Familyis not connected with our family. Not really, and maybe not yet yet, I mean :-)
Because: I am looking for one special person, one Peter de Witt, born about 1795, with a father Jan, who settled in our region, and according to our church records they came from Southern Dithmarschen in Slesvig Holstein ( Schleswig Holstein).
At about the same time came a young man from Southern Dithmarschen, whose name was Claas Schlichting ( this is also the name of a town a little bit North from Dithmarschen), born around the same time, who had three children with a woman named Antje Reiners (1803-1867). unmarried. One of their daughters was Claasje Sophie Schlichting ( 1836-1895) who married in 1878 one Johann HinrichDittmers ( 1833-1899). THis was his second marriage.
I have more information about the Dittmers family, which I gathered from our church records. In case you want them I could send you the dates from our church register.
Youhave documents and pictures? Well, what I am looking for is a (probably) missinglink between the de Witt family and the Dittmers. If I only knew more about this Claas Schlichting, maybe I could find a connection. Did he travel South with "our"Peter together, around 1800? Were there any family members?
That's what Iwant to know.
If you know more, I'd love to hear this from you.
Thanks
Elke de Witt
