David Morton McWilliams was born in Belmont County, Ohio July 19th,1835 and diedat Pisgah, Iowa, May 2nd, 1913, in the 77th year of hisage.
In 1857, he cameto Buchanan County, Iowa, where he was married toMargaret Ann Cummings March 2,1860. To this union was born10children,eight of whom are now living; Worth, John and HowardMcWilliams and Mrs. Phil Bonney at Pisgah; Paul McWilliams at LittleSioux; Grant McWilliams at Omaha, NE; Mrs. S. P. Pittmare,Fayetteville, AR; andMrs. Frank Walker of Medicine Bow, WY. All thechildren save Mrs. Walker andMrs.Pittmare were present for theservices.
In 1866, the family moved to HarrisonCounty where they have sinceresided.
The end came without warning at about 5AM Friday during a sharpthunderstorm. Mr. McWilliams started to get out of bed, but suddenlydropped back on the pillow and quietly breathed his last. He was apioneer of section, a man of sterling character an a loving husbandand father.
The funeral was held from theLDS Church, Monday afternoon, Rev.McClintic of Little Sioux conducting the services.
His host of friends packed the church and covered the casket withbeautiful floral tokens and a long procession followed thebody to itslast resting place in the McWilliams Cemetery.
