Also on that ship were Gottleib Hartwig, Kortzfamily, Christopher & Marie Stade 7 2 chn, Friedrich & Johann Stade,Diedrich Wilkins. (From Nelson Examiner 11 Feb 1857, 1 April 1857.)Christopher, Friedrich & Johann Stade were brothers. The sureties forLena , an adult, were Heinrich Fanselow-(he was her grandmother'sbrother in law) & J. Jacobsen, She had come from Harkensee by Dassow. Intention to marry: 23 Dec 1861, Nelson John Joachim Harry Hintz, bachelor, labourer, aged 36 of Waimea East.In NZ 3 years, (c early 1859) to Magdalena Catherina Dorothea Lange,spinster, aged 15 of Waimea East. In NZ 4 years. (1857) Marriage totake place at the German Lutheran Church, Waimea East. Person givngconsent to a minor was Henry Lange (father). Married by Rev John WmChr Heine. (So her step father was still alive 1861) The marriage took place at the Lutheran Church Waimea East, 3 Jan 1862between John Joachim Harry Hintz, aged 36, and Magdalena CathrinaDorothea Lange, aged 17. He was a labourer & bachelor. Witnesses wereJohn Sigglekow Waimea East, farmer, & J. Sigglekow, farmer, WaimeaEast. J.J.H. Hintz made a mark, I think Magdalena signed her name. 24 April1886, Registrars office Christchurch. John Harwood, aged 47,labourer, bachelor, living in Christchurch, married Selina ElizabethHines, aged 35, housekeeper, widowed Sept 1881, born in Germany, livedat Little River. Father's name Henry Lange, labourer, mother's nameSophia Lange nee Bockmann. John Harwood signed & Selina ElizabethHines made her mark. Witnesses were Joachim Bockmann, labourer ofOhoka (her mother's brother) C. King of West Eyreton (her cousin). A registered letter was sent to Mrs Harwood 13 Sept 1887 from Mr FBockmann, Upper Moutere. Letters: Little River, 7 Nov (no year) Dear Uncle, You must not think that I have forgot you but I have been very badwith the dropsy of late but it seems to be flying to my heart. In factI can hardly explain all that I am sufering but must hope for thebest. Franz is in Goughs Bay -felling timber for a mill he split hisbig toe open the other day but I hope he will soon be able to go towork again. Johny is in Port Levy bush felling contract work. I hope they will both have good luck and bring us a little help as youknow with our lot every little helps. Annie has had another daughter about 6 weeks ago It was sickly atfirst but is getting along fine they are off to Christchurch today. Things are very dull here just now very little work going on in factthe mill will soon be cut out, Men are leaving here very fast. Thefirm is cutting down the wages. So you will see things are pretty bad here just now. There will bevery little doing till seed time and then there will be nothing doingat all. I remain Your loving niece Elizabeth Harwood. Little River, Jan 27th My dear Uncle and family, I received your kind cash? and ever welcome letter. Was glad to hearyou were well as it leaves us at present. Dear Uncle I am glad to tellyou that I am getting better - (can't decipher). My leg keep verylach (?). I am suffering from the same complaint as my mother. That iswhat is the matter with my leg and the water bursts out all over it. Iam obliged to wear an elastic bandage around it. All the rest of myfamily are quite well except my husband and he has got a very badtongue. The doctors are afraid it will turn to a cancer and if it doesit will be a bad Jol? for me with my large family. He cannot eatanything. He goes all day and eats nothing. Often Uncle Joe and cousinMary - are harvesting here and their family are well. Cousin Eliza hasgot a baby son and they are very proud of the boy the first. We arehaving more terrible hot weather here. Everything is scorched up. Iwas very sorry to hear that Mother is so ill. She cannot last muchlonger as she is. I think I have told you all. Now the children sendtheir - love to you all and my husband and expect the same from yourever loving niece. Elizabeth Harwood. Maria Elizabeth Magdalena Bockmann had a child to George Robinson(TeOti) in 1881 while she was living with John Henry Harwood (DawnWilliamson). This child was Louisa Sophia Harwood. George ROBINSON (Teoti Rapatini Karawa) Born at Akaroa 1843, Died atLittle River, 12 Dec 1906, aged 63. 1st Marriage to Olivia Roberson, daughter of John & Pirihira Roberson,all from Taupo. George aged 34 years married Olivia, aged 17 years on 27 June 1877.Olivia died on her 21st birthday giving birth to a daughter. Mother &child died on 29 Aug 1881 and were buried at Little River. There wasone male living issue who was taken to Taupo to live with hisgrandparents. He was named John Robinson. 2nd Marriage. Makareta Morrell (or Morera) at St Peter's AnglicanChurch Akaroa in 1882. They had 7 children. Makareta Robinson died 26July 1929 aged 66 years. Elizabeth's burial information from Christchurch City Council givesher age as 59.
