CAMP POINT, Ill. -- Maurice "Maurie" E. Brady, 84, of Camp Point, died at 1:50 a.m. Sunday (June 22, 2014) in Blessing Hospital in Quincy.
Born Nov. 7, 1929, in Pittsfield, Maurice was a son of Merle and Gladys Taylor Brady. He married Eloise Joan Roy on Nov. 4, 1950, in Mount Sterling. She survives.
Maurice farmed all his life in the Clayton area.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, Adams County Farm Bureau, Central Quarterback Club and had served on the Community Unit School District No. 3 School Board and was a Concord Township Board trustee. Maurice coached Clayton Little League and Pony League, American Legion baseball and Camp Point Co-op 4-H girls softball. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and a great card player.
Survivors include Joan, his wife of 63 years; seven children, Janet Luna (Ruben) of Geneva, Teresa Brady of Camp Point, John Brady (Janice) of Clayton, Richard Brad of Camp Point, Ellen King (Steve) of Oak Brook Terrace, Marcia Blessman (Gary) of Princeton, and Matt Brady of Camp Point; 16 grandchildren, Mary Beth Mediana (Mike), Catherine Luna, Andrea Ellexson (Levi), Elaine Brady, Kyle Brady, Nathan Brady (Michelle), Kristen Boylen (Travis), Jahnee Hillen (Jamie), Jamie Fifarek (Steve), Luke Brady (Jae), Alexandra King, Erica Blessman, Julie Blessman, Drew Blessman, Scott Blessman and Stephanie Blessman; 15 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Norbert Brady of Denver, Colo., and Donald Brady (Judy) of Surprise, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Brady; and a brother, Charles Brady.
SERVICES:10 a.m. Thursday, June 26, in St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point, conducted by the Rev. Thomas Henseler. Burial will be in Mount Sterling Catholic Cemetery.
VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, in the church.
MEMORIALS: St. Thomas Catholic Church or the Panther Pride Foundation.
ARRANGEMENTS: Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home.
