CAMP POINT, Ill. -- Eloise Joan Brady, 84, of Camp Point, died at 11:27 a.m. Monday (Nov. 3, 2014) at her home in Camp Point.
Born May 25, 1930, in Quincy, Joan was a daughter of John R. and Alvesta M. Zeiger Roy. She married Maurice E. Brady Nov. 4, 1950, in Mount Sterling. He died on June 22, 2014.
Joan attended Hazel Dell Grade School, Clayton Community High School and Culver-Stockton College.
She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the St. Thomas Altar Society. She was also a member of the Camp Point Ladies Home Extension, Sewing Club, Couples and Ladies Pinochle clubs, and the Clayton/Concord Busy Bee Club.
Mrs. Brady was well known throughout Adams County for her various performances and skits including "Ma and Pa,","Minnie Pearl" and "Miss Flossie." She was always involved in all of her children's school activities and sporting events. Other lifelong passions included traveling, antiquing, pie baking and family gatherings. But most of all, she cherished her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include seven children, Janet Luna (Ruben) of Geneva, Teresa Brady of Camp Point, John Brady (Janice) of Clayton, Richard Brady of Camp Point, Ellen King (Steve) of Oak Brook Terrace, Marcia Blessman (Gary) of Princeton, and Matt Bradyof Camp Point; 16 grandchildren, Mary Beth Mediana (Mike), Catherine Luna, Andrea Ellexson (Levi), Elaine Brady, Kyle Brady, Nathan Brady (Michelle), Kristen Boylen (Travis), Jahnee Hillen (Jamie), Jamie Fifarek (Steve), and Luke Brady (Jae), Alexandra King, Erica Lenihan (Bill), Julie Blessman, Drew Blessman, Scott Blessman, and Stephanie Blessman; 15 great-grandchildren, a sister, Rosemary Moore (Jim) of Camp Point; two brothers, Maurice Roy (Anita) of Clayton and James Roy (Mara) of Putnam, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Brady; a sister, Roberta Busen; and a brother, John W. Roy.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, in St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point by the Rev. Steve Thompson and the Rev. Thomas Henseler. Burial will follow at Mount Sterling Catholic Cemetery.
VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, in St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point.
MEMORIALS: St. Thomas Catholic Church, Clayton Old Settlers, or the Joan Brady Memorial Fund.
ARRANGEMENTS: Lummis-Hamilton Funeral Home, Camp Point.
