Birth: 1923, USA Death: May 24, 1945, Philippines Son of Huley D. Ridge. He attended Elm Heights grade school while living in Bloomington, IN. He entered the service on October 22, 1942 and was sent overseas in December 1944. He was an aviation radioman of a bombing plane in the Navy Air Corp. He was killed in action May 24, 1945 when his plane was lost in the Philippines. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross posthumously for 24 missions against Japanese forces in the Pacific Area from February 27 to May 15, 1945 and to the success of the aerial offense in these areas.
