Died at her home near Plevna June 5, 1895, Mrs. Herriot [sic] Hickman of that dreadful destroyer consumption. During her sickness she was aided and tenderly cared for by loved ones who did all in their power to stay the hand of death until the eve of the 5th, when near the sinking of the sun beneath the Western horizon the death angel came as a kind messenger and plucked her gentle spirit from its prison of clay only to transplant it in the home of eternal bliss on high."
