In1902 to America and to Odessa, WA. Member of Pilgrim CongregationalChurch. Died: May 9, 1950, aged 90 yr 4 mos 10 days. Surviving sons:Christian, Johann, Gottlieb, Emanuel and Friedrich, all of Odessa; 4daughters: Mrs. Gottlieb Ramm, Mrs. Wilhelm Deife, both of Odessa,Mrs. Lena Raugust and Lydia Frieske, of Spokane; 42 grandchildren; 59great grandchildren, ...” (loose translation of “Der Kirchenbote” withportions missing; Aug 17, 1950) “Funeral services for Mrs. LouiseHemmerling, 90, were held from the UCC on Sunday afternoon. The Rev E.J. Eslinger and the Rev A. Hausauer conducted the service, using theGerman and American languages. Burial was in the Odessa Cemetery,under the direction of the Strate Funeral Home. Pallbearers werechosen from the grandsons, and included Dewain M. Hemmerling, CalvinRaugust, Clarence Hemmerling, Robert Deife, LeRoy Ramm and ReinholdHemmerling. Mrs. Hemmerling, a native of Russia, came to the UnitedStates with her husband and family in 1902, locating north of town.She mothered a family of 12, one child that died before leavingRussia. Twins also preceded her in death, Gust, in 1902, and Rudolphin 1946. Mr Hemmerling died in 1914, the year after the family hadmoved to town from the ranch. Survivors include five sons, Chris,John, Gottlieb, Emmanuel and Fred, all of Odessa; four daughters, Mrs.Gottlieb Ramm and Mrs. William Deife, Odessa; Mrs. Lena Raugust andMrs. Lydia Frieske, Spokane; 42 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildrenand 3 great great grandchildren.” (Odessa Record: 5-18-1950)
