Charles von Schill arrived in Tasmania as a crew member of the ship GALATEA where he was an able seaman and carpenter. He came from Koenigsberg in Prussia. He was discharged from the ship on 13 June 1882.
Charles had 4 sons serve in the Military.WW1-William who was killed in France , Albert who served in England.Thomas served at Gallipoli and wounded in France-GSW Rt Forearm.. WW2-Alan who was POW in Changi.

The funeral of the late Charles Herman Von Schill will leave his late residence, Lewis Street, Latrobe, at 3. p.m. on Thursday, for interment in the Church of England Cemetery.
